| The Dalesmen Singers male voice choir was formed in 1971, resulting from a   meeting in the 'Duke of Wellington' pub in Danby between Joe   Easley who was to become the first chairman and Colin Throup a former   professional singer.
            
            Colin became the Dalesmen Singers first musical director   and continued in the post for 18 years. The choir soon established itself  singing at   different venues
            
            in and a
            
            round the North York moors and as it's   reputation began to spread, performances and friendships formed in other   parts of the country and abroad including Canada, Holland, France, Sweden and Spain.. The choir has a  great   tradition of friendship and of helping others and Dalesmen Concerts over the years have raised money for many different charities. Currently, we have about 40 members with   all kinds of different backgrounds and experiences and members come from as far a field as   Teesside, Whitby and Pickering and all stops between. Togetherness is part of the   Choir ethos and along with a common love of singing,   family members also take an active role in social and fund raising activities.   Rehearsals take place every Tuesday evening at 7:30 in theMethodist church in Danby and other choirs, Schools and prospective choir members are invited to come along and see  how a Male VoiceChoir works In the National Park   The North Yorkshire Moors National Park is an area  of   outstanding natural moorland beauty. It is also close to the National Heritage coastline a wild,   rugged and beautiful area with magnificent cliffs, beaches and picturesque fishing villages. This 'off the beaten track' area of history and natural beauty is well worth a visit |
